+ Moon Tree Planting Feb. 11

As you might have heard at the last meeting when Ms. Forde chatted about it, the City of Nassau Bay is holding a Moon Tree planting on Saturday, 11 Feb, from 12p-3p.

Moon trees are seeds taken into orbit by Apollo 14 to help understand the impact of radiation on plants.  The seeds planted at this event are the “gradnchildren” of those seeds brought into orbit.  There will be free food starting at 12pm, and then after a brief opening, our Scouting units at St. Thomas have been asked to simultaneously launch 14 rockets.

That’s a tall order, because if you’ve launched with us before, these rockets can be tricky.  But we’ve got all new rockets and many new launchpads and controllers… but we need Scouts in uniform to come “press the button” and launch!

Please consider signing your Scout up using

THIS FORM

for this fun, free event.  More information about the Moon Trees program can be found

here

, and more information about this event can be found

Thank you for your help!  The City of Nassau Bay, St. Thomas, and the Moon Trees Foundation are counting on us!

+ Summer Camp Strake Commitment

Our troop is staying at Camp Strake this summer from 18-24 June and we need your help planning.  Please use

THIS FORM to indicate whether your Scout will attend and whether a parent will attend with him.

Cost per Scout is $350
Cost per Adult is $150
Cost includes all instruction, camping fees, meals, etc.  Certain merit badges (leatherwork and basketry come to mind, but there may be more) may attract an additional fee for material kits.
Please let me or

Scoutmaster Hal know if you have specific questions.  Thank you for your prompt reply using our form!

+ Activity Consent Form to attend the campout on Jan 27-29

Download, complete, print, and sign them and return them at this weekend’s meeting.
Scouts will not be allowed to attend the campout on 27-29 January without completing these forms.

Activity Consent Form

and Approval By Parents/Legal Guardian and will be required for each camping event going forward (so you may want to save a completed copy on your computer).

Forms A/B/C

.  For those who crossed from Pack 1965, you’ve seen this before.  We must have Forms A & B for this campout.  Form C is not required for this campout but will be required for summer camp.  It requires a “sports physical” to be conducted by medical personnel and can be done later.

In any case, these forms must have a “wet” signature: please print them out and then sign them with a ballpoint pen – digital signatures won’t be accepted.

+ How to: Remind App

In order to quickly reach everyone when email is impractical, we’ve decided to use the Remind app, since most everyone is already using that for school anyway.

As soon as you can, please add “@troop1966” to your list of classes.  This will be for troop-wide comms, and will be primarily for leadership to communication with families.  While families can reply to the message, the reply will only be visible to the sender and not other families.  Thank you!
